The Neutral Wireless team was honoured this past weekend at the 2024 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, where senior systems engineer Dr. Samuel Yoffe was presented with the NAB Best Paper Award.

Dr Sam Yoffe, Senior Systems Engineer, receiving the 2024 Best Paper Award for Neutral Wireless from Lynn Claudy, senior vice president, Technology, NAB.

Accepting on behalf of a team of 15 authors from Neutral Wireless and our partners at StrathSDR, the University of Strathclyde and the BBC, Dr. Yoffe had the following to say:

“To have our paper detailing the design, development and delivery of such an ambitious project recognised by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Broadcast, Engineering and IT Conference (BEITC) with a best paper award is fantastic, and we are hugely grateful to the organisers and panel.”

Dr. Samuel Yoffe, Senior Systems Engineer, Neutral Wireless

In the paper, the authors describe the end-to-end experience of designing a Private 5G network operating in the n77 shared spectrum band (3.8 to 4.2 GHz) using Software-Defined Radio (SDR), and the steps taken to customise and optimise that network for media and broadcast — supporting live, high-definition camera feeds and other user devices.

The Neutral Wireless team is tremendously grateful for the continued recognition of our efforts in providing innovative Private 5G solutions for the media and broadcast industries.

Dr. Yoffe will be presenting our (now award-winning) paper on Monday 15th (15:40, W222-223) to all interested conference pass holders.

From Monday to Wednesday of this week, Neutral Wireless will also be presenting at the AMD Stand (SL9099) at 13:00 local time, demonstrating Software-Defined Wireless IP at 2GHz — bringing 5GNR in to the Broadcast Auxiliary Service (BAS) Band.

Neutral Wireless will also be participating in a fascinating panel discussion with Verizon Business on enhancing broadcast workflows with network slicing. This panel is scheduled for 11:30, Tuesday 16th, in the Connect Zone: Tech Chat Theatre.
